It’s strange how a week can feel both like a whirlwind and a deep dive into something entirely new. As I sat down at my desk after the first few days of my Creative Computing BSc, it hit me: I’d officially started a journey that blends code, creativity, and the countless possibilities that emerge when the two intersect. And yet, I’m only scratching the surface of what that means.
Day 1: Stepping Into the Unknown
The first day was full of anticipation—what exactly is Creative Computing? I walked into the building expecting a computer science course with some extra glitter thrown on top, but the reality is far more interesting.
We kicked off with a session about the philosophy of computing and creativity. A lot of it centered around the idea that computing isn’t just a tool—it’s a medium of expression. This shift in perspective was mind-blowing, and it reframed how I thought about code. Instead of rigid lines on a screen, it suddenly felt like a language, a way to tell stories or convey emotions. As we were asked to reflect on our personal motivations for choosing this path, I realized I had no concrete answer yet, but that’s exactly what I was here to discover.
